Amoeba proteus slipping under a clump of organic matter to feed. Amoebas are voracious eaters that feed on a variety of prey, including bacteria and other small organisms. To capture prey, an amoeba will extend a pseudopod around the prey and engulf it. Once the prey is inside the cell, it is digested using enzymes. |
