Meadow Buttercup

Location: Grantchester Meadows, Cambridgeshire

Meadow Buttercup (Ranunculus acris) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa.

Ornamental value: Meadow Buttercup is often appreciated for its bright yellow flowers that bloom in late spring and early summer. These flowers can add a vibrant touch to meadows, wildflower gardens, or naturalized areas.

Traditional medicine: Although Meadow Buttercup has been used historically in traditional medicine to treat various ailments - such as rheumatism and fevers - it is important to note that all parts of the plant are toxic and can cause skin irritation or more severe symptoms if ingested. Therefore, using it for medicinal purposes is not recommended without proper knowledge and guidance from a healthcare professional.
