Beyond Serandib: A Note on Lambri at the Northern Tip of Acheh
By E. Edwards McKinnon
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this article is to review the literature regarding the location and nature of Lambri, an important landfall and departure point for ships crossing the Indian Ocean in early times, and indeed much later, and to suggest why there seems to be such a paucity of archaeological evidence regarding the location of ancient Lambri. I will submit new evidence, albeit limited, to support the theory that the traditional location of Lambri is essentially correct and will also suggest lines for future research in the area.
